Mead on Meritocracy

Kind of long (but worth it) think-piece on meritocracy in the US. About midway through it zeroes in on the significance of religious faith as a grounding mechanism for elites (such as ourselves, naturally). Walter Russell Mead's blog is another frequent stopping point for me in my interweb peregrinations.
